Kick boxing recognised as Namibian sport code

TRIMO HERBST The Namibia Sport Commission has officially recognised kick boxing as a Namibian sport code . The announcement was made on Thursday at the Walvisbay-based MMA and Kickboxing Academy. It was revealed that the Namibian Kickboxing Federation has been established in accordance with the Namibia Sport Commission's rules and regulations and can now host international events. According to sport commission officials, kickboxing fighters can also receive national colours and represent their country at national and international events. Kickboxing has grown exponentially across Namibia in recent years and according the sport the status of an official code in Namibia was a logical consequence. This was echoed by members of the Namibia MMA Kickboxing Federation. There are currently about 30 kickboxers at the Walvisbay Kickboxing Academy, which has a fully equipped gym that offers a variety of activities, including Kickboxing, Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu, Self-Defense and MMA. Kickboxing for children is also offered to help them increase their self-esteem, concentration, focus, confidence, discipline and fitness.
