Namibia to host first 'closed door' boxing bonanza

Local boxing promoter Nestor Tobias is planning to stage the country's first-ever closed doors boxing event. The event themed" Together As One Boxing Bonanza" is scheduled to take place on the 7th of November at the Windhoek Country Club. Due to the rapid spread of COVID-19, the MTC Nestor Sunshine Academy cancelled a scheduled event earlier this year, which was supposed to take place in March. According to the Academy's management, the first “closed door” boxing bonanza in the country is thus about to happen, for the boxers to shake off the rust and get active again. “This will be the first closed-door event in Namibian Boxing history. We know that after such a long lay-off, our boxers are hungry to get back into the ring. This fight is for them and the fans” , According to Tobias, lots of excitement will form part of the event. “We have prepared an exciting card, which consists of local boxers only because we cannot bring in foreign boxers at this stage due to complications associated with COVID-19. All fights will be non-title fights” Tobias said. Boxers such as Jeremia Nakathila, Mike Shonena, Harry Simon Junior, and Charles Shinima amongst others are expected to take part in the 7-bout bonanza.
