It was announced today that Jacky Shipanga resigned from her duties at the NFA Girls Centre and thus as the head coach of the Brave Gladiators with immediate effect. Shipanga, who served at the NFA women's desk for 22 years - eight of those as the national women team's head coach - has resigned. She will take up a new role of General Manager for development in the regions. Shipanga is recognized as a women's coach with the most qualifications in Namibia and Africa. She holds certificates from FIFA, CAF, UEFA and DFB. She told a press conference earlier today that she is grateful to be an integral part of women's sport and that nothing was given to her on a silver platter. Shipanga is replaced by Brian Isaacs, while his assistant will be Brian van Standen. “Football is not necessarily to win gold medals or trophies, but football teaches us values and skills which are essential for all of us. Through football, you can learn respect, discipline, fair play, leadership, self-confidence, empowerment, tolerance, integration, teamwork, and much more. Football is a toolkit for life. Change is a good thing, we should not fear it, but embrace it and if you're brave enough to say good bye, life will reward you with a new hello,” Shipanga said. In her new position, Shipanga is going to concentrate on women's football in the regions and the development thereof. No-one from NFA was present at the press briefing where she announced her resignation.
