the 10th Edition of the highly anticipated Erongo Powersave Street Mile Challenge gears up to take the stage this weekend. Under the beautiful clear skies and with perfect road running conditions, the 9th edition of this highly anticipated annual competition mesmerized both participants and spectators. The half marathon showcased some incredible talent, with Hamutwa Shikongo from Kavango East initially taking the lead and capturing everyone's attention for the first 14 kilometers. However, as his energy dwindled, he was eventually overtaken by Shaliaxwe and Matheus from the Namibian Police, who showcased their exceptional skills and determination.

The FIFA Football for Schools programme was launched at the Jan Mohr Secondary School sport field in Windhoek on Wednesday. 

The FIFA Football for Schools programme was launched at the Jan Mohr Secondary School sport field in Windhoek on Tuesday.

The idea for the programme was born in Rwanda during a FIFA committee in 2018. It is run by FIFA in collaboration with UNESCO and aims to contribute to the education, development and empowerment of boys and girls across the globe.

Sports directorate allocated N$46 million to cater for 50+ codes

At a recent Standard Bank sponsorship announcement, Director of sport in the Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Service, Jo-Ann Manuel, spoke about how the 46 Million Namibia Dollars allocated for the financial year are going to be utilized. 

Among other things, Manuel suggested the reintroduction of the grant system to the federations as sports administrators find it difficult to make ends meet without the support of corporate sponsorship.
