A powerful show of unity unfolded on Saturday as sports leaders, government officials, and the public came together for “Padel for a Purpose” a fundraising event aimed at supporting Namibian athletes on their road to the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Hosted by Namspire in collaboration with the Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC), the event used the fast-growing sport of padel to raise awareness and gather support for Namibia’s elite athletes.
Proceeds from the event will go toward the Athletics Fund, ensuring Namibian athletes receive high-quality training, preparation, and development in the lead-up to LA 2028.
Sanet Steenkamp, Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture, highlighted the importance of long-term investment in youth and sport.
Dr. Ndeulipula Hamutumwa, NNOC President, noted the event’s alignment with International Olympic Day (June 28), reinforcing the values of excellence, friendship, and respect.
Jo-Ann Manuel, Director of Sport, emphasized continuing the legacy of sport champions who paved the way for future generations.
As Namibia’s Olympic journey gains momentum, “Padel for a Purpose” demonstrated the power of collaboration proving that with united support, Namibian athletes can shine on the world stage.
