President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says that Workers' Day on May 1 will feature joint preparations by workers, the government, and employers in a tripartite arrangement.

The Secretary General of the National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW), Job Muniaro, has called for greater honesty in addressing challenges affecting workers and employers, pointing to discipline and skills development as major concerns.

The Ministry of Justice and Labour Relations will accelerate the improvement and upgrading of the job portal and the Namibia Integrated Employment Information System (NIEIS) to effectively provide employment services to job seekers and employers.

Failure by employers to contribute to the Social Security Commission (SSC) has resulted in employees not receiving benefits from the commission.

This happens in many cases when workers need it the most in situations such as retrenchments and maternity leave.

Employers with ten and more workers will now be required to inform the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation of any vacancies in their establishments.
