The Ministry of Justice and Labour Relations will accelerate the improvement and upgrading of the job portal and the Namibia Integrated Employment Information System (NIEIS) to effectively provide employment services to job seekers and employers.
This was revealed by Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare during his motivation of the labour relations vote of N$231 million.
Dr Ngurare said this will help to correctly inform planning policy decisions and also guide industry and education sectors in addressing the challenges of skill shortages and unemployment.
"Continue implementing the Global Accelerator Initiative, aiming at accelerating job creation and extending social protection to those who are currently excluded. In order to strengthen social dialogue and support our social partners, we will support our social partners, notably the most representative trade unions and employers' organisations, to fulfil the principle of state policy essence reign in Article 95 of the Namibian Constitution."
Under the programme of Promotion of Harmonious Labour Relations, an amount of over N$106 million is allocated.
'Activities under this programme are implemented by the Office of the Labour Commissioner, responsible for labour dispute resolution, employment equity commission, enforcement of the affirmative action legislation and labour services directorate enforcement of the Commission. With compliance and adherence to labour laws, through labour inspections on basic conditions of employment, occupational safety and health as well as maintaining employees' workmen's compensation."
