Ohangwena Regional Council sets bar higher for 2024

The Ohangwena Regional Council has officially commenced its operations for 2024, promising to work harder and deliver services efficiently and effectively.

Ohangwena Governor Sebastian Ndeitunga, speaking at the Eenhana Convention Centre, said the event was necessary to remind public servants of what is expected of them.

Ndeitunga reminded the regional council staff of their duties and what was expected of them.

Drought relief food worth N$600,000 stolen

Five employees of the Ohangwena Regional Council and an employee at the Oshikango Constituency Office have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the theft of drought relief food worth more than N$600,000 from a warehouse in Oshikango. 

There is already a shortage of food aid in the region, as there is only enough aid to cater to 16,000 households in a region where 48,000 households require food aid. 

When the nbc News team arrived in Oshikango, the warehouse was locked and no movement was detected.

Ohangwena Regional Council has reiterated its commitment to supporting teachers and learners.

The Council's Chief Regional Officer Fillipus Shilongo, who is on a two-week visit to schools in the region, gave this assurance.

His visit is aimed at motivating teachers and learners alike to produce quality results this year, while further acquainting himself with the situation on the ground, including the state of education infrastructure, learning materials and various other challenges.
