While most were out celebrating the dawn of the New Year, others took a more tranquil approach.

Celebrating New Year's Eve in church was described as a way of calling for God's direction and setting the year 2024 off on the right foot.

Some people, whom the nbc News team spoke to, said that celebrating New Year's Eve in church is a way of thanking God for all he has done and setting the right pace for the new year.

First Family joins Nation in Celebrating Easter


Namibia's first family, President Hage Geingob and First Lady Monica Geingos, joined congregants at the Inner-City Lutheran Congregation Church in Windhoek for the Easter Sunday service.

The Easter Sunday service is held in remembrance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, three days after his death by crucifixion.

Pastor Brian Mbazuvara, during his benediction, implored the congregants to emulate the character and deeds of Jesus Christ by not writing off those who have wronged or faulted them.

Police report an increase in cases of housebreaking in Kavango East Region 


Cases of housebreaking, particularly in schools and churches are on the increase in the Kavango East Region.

Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu revealed this during the display of goods confiscated at Rundu, mainly stationary from schools.

An adult male and a Grade 10 learner were arrested after they were found in possession of the stolen goods in Sikanduko Informal Settlement. 

DC Kanyetu says the extended Boots on the Ground Operation is bearing fruit as the number of street robberies has reduced dramatically.
