Cases of housebreaking, particularly in schools and churches are on the increase in the Kavango East Region.

Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu revealed this during the display of goods confiscated at Rundu, mainly stationary from schools.

An adult male and a Grade 10 learner were arrested after they were found in possession of the stolen goods in Sikanduko Informal Settlement.

DC Kanyetu says the extended Boots on the Ground Operation is bearing fruit as the number of street robberies has reduced dramatically.

He, however, called on residents to create neighborhood watch groups to curb housebreaking.

"We must at least create that neighborhood relations because a neighbor like for example that generator is so heavy as such and a person that is next to you that you never so a generator carrying a generator passing your house without you questioning or alerting the police telling them this our neighbor here carrying this article that we want to question where it is coming from."

The Deputy Commissioner is however disturbed that parents of those children are harassing victims and often demand that they withdraw their cases.
