NSI launches Metrology Awareness Campaign

The Namibian Standards Institution (NSI) has launched a metrology awareness campaign in Windhoek.

The Metrology Act provides for standardisation and conformity services through a well-defined national measurement system to the benefit of Namibian citizens.

The Metrology Act No. 5 of 2022 will allow the NSI to carry out its designated function of being the National Metrology Institute and the competent legal metrology authority effectively.

Government declares a state of drought in Namibia

Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform, Anna Shiweda, said the Namibian government has officially declared a state of drought in Namibia.

She said measures are being put into motion to initiate a comprehensive drought relief programme aimed at assisting the vulnerable and affected communities residing in all 14 regions of the country.

National African Student's Association launches national 10,000-membership campaign

The National African Student's Association (NASA) has launched its national 10,000-membership campaign at Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi Region.

The student representative body hopes to register students from UNAM's Katima campus as well as the Zambezi Vocational Training Centre.

Speaking at the event, the association's president, Paulus Vihemba, said the aim is to register new members from all of the country's 14 regions.

BoN launches modified N$20 banknote

The Bank of Namibia on Monday launched and activated the modified N$20 banknote at Opuwo.

The modified N$20 note contains the signature of the current central bank governor, Johannes !Gawaxab. The N$20 and N$200 notes were last reprinted in 2018.

!Gawaxab said this at the launch that was held in Opuwo to promote financial inclusion.
