Today marks 33 years since the adoption of the Constitution by the Constituent Assembly in 1990.

Namibians observe Constitution Day on February 9th, the day on which the country's supreme law came into existence.

The Constituent Assembly, comprising different political parties in 1989, drafted the country's Constitution in record time and unanimously adopted it under the chairmanship of President Hage Geingob.

Namibia's Constitution has been described as one of the most democratic in the world.
