Omusati rural residents still not in possession of IDs

The majority of people in the Omusati Region's rural areas are still not in possession of national identity documents.

This came to light during a three-day government information sharing session spearheaded by the Ministry of ICT as well as other relevant ministries and agencies.

ICT Deputy Minister Emma Theofelus spearheaded sessions in Omusati's Onesi Constituency to share information on government services offered by the Ministries of Home Affairs, Gender, Youth, and the Police.

Botswana, Namibia to sign MoU to permit use of IDs for cross border travel

The use of passports for citizens between Namibia and Botswana will soon be something of the past.

On Friday, the two countries will sign a Memorandum of Agreement to permit the use of national identity cards from each country as travel documents to cross their borders.

The Botswana Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs has confirmed.

The signing of the agreement will take place at the Mamuno/Trans-Kalahari border post this Friday.
