A family of twelve in Kalkfeld, whose house was blown off by heavy rains and strong winds, has received assistance.

The house belongs to a pensioner, Violine Tjandero.

Namibia joined the rest of the world in celebrating World Music Day on Saturday, and music lovers had their dancing shoes on in Kalkfeld. 

Music lovers from across the Otjozondjupa Region met in Kalkfeld to celebrate World Music Day. 

Kalkfeld residents can now make their own bricks, following the handover of a brick-making project by the Otjozondjupa Regional Council.

Situated about 70 km from Otjiwarongo, Kalkfeld is a settlement with more than 5,000 inhabitants.

A group of SWANU Party members at Kalkfeld have taken to the streets to voice their grievances against the effects of water debts, unemployment, and a lack of updates on plans for the settlement's intended upgrading to village council status.

A combined debt of N$15 million owed by residents of Kalkfeld to the Otjozondjupa Regional Council has led to water cuts for those in arrears.

This was confirmed by Regional Council Chairperson Marlene Mbakera, who says the debt hampers service delivery and development in the settlement.

With the extension of the SIM card registration, Kalkfeld residents are calling on Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) to visit their settlement again.

It is a well-known fact that rural electrification significantly enhances the quality of life.

Progress to electrify about 100 low-income houses built at Kalkfeld Settlement in Otjozondjupa Region is said to be going smoothly.

The Peri-Urban Electrification Project is valued at N$2 million and is being spearheaded by CENORED.

All Social Security Commission (SSC) services will soon become easily accessible to residents of Otjiwarongo and the surrounding areas as the commission initiates the construction of the Otjiwarongo Regional Office.

President Hage Geingob helped kick off the new rural electrification project Kalkfeld settlement in the Otjozondjupa Region on Sunday. 

The peri-urban rural electrification under CENORED, is targeting to connect 100 housing units that were constructed in 2015.
