All systems go for upcoming National Skills Competition

Despite encountering a few challenges, such as the short supply of materials and equipment in the northern regions, the steering committee of the third National Skills Competition is optimistic that all will be set for the competition on Tuesday.

Speaking to nbc News, the chairperson of the committee, Tobias Nambala, says the procurement of some materials in the northern regions has been a challenge.

He said some of the equipment was damaged during the transportation process from Windhoek.

SA pledges commitment to providing electricity to Namibia

South Africa's Minister of Electricity has pledged his country's commitment to continue supplying electricity to Namibia.

Dr. Kgosientsho Ramokgopa made this commitment during a media briefing in Windhoek.
 
Namibia generates about 40% of its energy needs domestically, while the remaining 60% is imported from neighbouring countries via the Southern African Power Pool. Out of this, 100 megawatts are sourced from South Africa.

However, South Africa has been grappling with energy shortages and consequent load shedding for a considerable period of time.

NamWater to ration water supply in Oshana, Ohangwena and Oshikoto

The Namibia Water Corporation will ration water supply from the 7th of March due to the upgrading of the raw water pumps at the Oshakati Water Treatment Plant and distribution system.

In a notice to stakeholders and customers in the Oshana, Ohangwena and Oshikoto regions, NamWater states that the rationing of water supply will take place between 22h00 to 05h00 in the morning during the four-day period.

This is necessary to build up reserve capacity to sustain supply to critical customers, it said.
