Significant progress has been made in restoring the water supply in Opuwo, Kunene Region, as confirmed by NamWater’s Public Relations and Corporate Communications office.

A press release issued this afternoon announced that the 300 mm diameter feeder pipeline, which connects three critical boreholes to the collector reservoir, has been successfully reinstalled.

The borehole pumps have been reactivated, allowing the system to once again receive water from these sources, ultimately improving the water supply.

However, a 250 mm feeder pipeline connecting two additional boreholes remains inaccessible due to ongoing waterlogging and muddy conditions in the riverbed. NamWater's technical teams are closely monitoring the situation, and repairs will resume once the area is accessible.

In the meantime, a water tanker stationed in Opuwo will supply water to the communities of Olushandja and Katutura, which are not connected to the pipeline.

“NamWater remains committed to ensuring the full restoration of water services in Opuwo and appreciates the residents' patience and cooperation during this time. The Corporation will continue to provide regular updates as developments unfold,” the statement reads.
