The introduction of the community radio station there was meant to alleviate some of these challenges; however, the targeted group is yet to fully embrace a tool many call "the voice of the poor."

The Kunene Community Radio Station Manager, Rufus Sheehama, is one of the four volunteers at the small community radio station.

Rufus Sheehama, station manager at Kunene Community Radio, says the station is swamped with addressing social and economic development challenges faced by the community around Opuwo.

He says that on a daily basis, the talk radio station receives complaints from community members about a lack of services such as water and mobile network coverage.
