State House has dismissed claims that Vice President Nangolo Mbumba announced plans to retire without giving a specific date.

State House, in a statement, said that since the Vice President serves at the behest of the head of state as the appointing authority, it would be strange for Mbumba to announce his retirement plans at a public meeting.

The statement said Mbumba indicated to NEKA members that he would not run for any government position after his term ends in March 2025.
