Two of the three suicides reported are of women in their 40s.

At Oshifo's Omumbonde Village, Lucia Pokanana (47) allegedly hanged herself at home, as did 44-year-old Meriam Kairi from Orwetoveni at Otjiwarongo.

Police Arrest Three for Cannabis Possession

Police in the Otjozondjupa Region have arrested two men, aged 44 and 39, in the Omatako area, Tsumkwe West, as they were going to deliver another consignment of cannabis.

The drugs found on the suspects consist of 24 parcels of cannabis valued at N$123,000.

Three women found in possession of cannabis over the weekend were denied bail at the Rundu Magistrate's Court yesterday.

The accused, Emilia Kakuhu, Intumba Rafael Domingas, and a minor, were arrested during a Police operation called Operation Lobster.

Prosecutor General yet to file a plea and counterclaim in the cannabis case

Prosecutor General Martha Imalwa has yet to file a plea and counterclaim in the case in which marijuana activists Brain Jaftha and Borro Ndungulu want the government to legalise the use of cannabis in Namibia.

High Court Judge Eileen Rakow has postponed the matter to August 1st.
