Following weeks of 15 OvaHimba families living alongside the road on the outskirts of Kamanjab Settlement, the Kunene Regional Council has intervened to assist the group, that was evicted from a resettlement farm in the area.

The council started to register the families and some have appealed to either be allocated farming units or move back to their homeland while some wish to settle at the settlement.

The families were evicted from ToKo Lodge and Farm in April this year, after a change of ownership.

Outjo Circuit learners benefit from Never Walk Alone' project

Breadcrumb

More than 1 600 learners in the Outjo Circuit, at Kamanjab and Khorixas, have become the latest recipients of school shoes donated by the 'Never Walk Alone' project.

Going to school without shoes exposes learners to sharp objects, harmful bacteria, and hot soil, but they feel embarrassed among their peers.

Project Never Work Alone is a non-profit initiative that raises funds on an annual basis to give needy children pairs of shoes.

Breadcrumb

The Founder of the Never Walk Alone Project, Tim Ekandjo has donated more than 1000 pairs of shoes to children in Outjo.

The community of Outjo just witnessed the opening of the Legacy Centre in the town's informal settlement, and residents were over the moon when the Never Walk Alone Project gave shoes to 1 647 children.

The project aims to put shoes on the feet of children without a pair.

It is for that reason that the Kunene Region received the highest number of pairs of shoes since the inception of the project about two years ago.
