The Affirmative Repositioning (AR) Student Command has registered its presence at UNAM's Main, Katima Mulilo and Rundu campuses, as well as the Walvis Bay IUM campus.
At a media briefing, Student Command Leader Gillian Kalf said the movement aspires to grow into a reputable student organisation that advocates for political representation and influence.
While acknowledging restrictions on political party activities at some institutions, the AR Student Command urged students to continue engaging in activism.
Kalf emphasised that activism is not limited to street protests but also involves exposing societal injustices.
"The AR Student Command, the whole student body is recognised as a distinct community or a body, a structure within the movement. So, for instance, they are also able to participate at the Congress level within the movement. So there is that significant recognition that the AR Student Command is given within the movement or within the party. So when it comes to activism, I would just like to share my thoughts on activism and radicalism. So as young people, we should not always be afraid of activism and radicalism and all of that. Through radicalism, we are also able to uncover inequalities, injustices, and power imbalances that we experience in our society."
Having already registered at four campuses, the student body aims to expand to all universities and vocational and technical institutions.
