One more person dies from suspected food poisoning in Rundu

One more person has died following an incident where eight people are suspected to have contracted food poisoning at Livayi Village, 155 kilometres east of Rundu.

This brings the number of dead from the incident to three. 

Five more remain hospitalised at the Rundu Intermediate Hospital, one in critical condition.

The incident happened on Monday.

According to family members who spoke to nbc News on Tuesday, a 13-year-old boy prepared lunch with a combination of porridge and mutete, which the children consumed.

Two minors have died, while six are hospitalised at the Rundu Intermediate Hospital due to suspected food poisoning. 

This happened at Livayi Village, 155 kilometres east of Rundu in the Ndiyona Constituency.

Six of the children are related, while the other two are neighbours who also consumed the food. 

According to family members who spoke to nbc News, a 13-year-old boy had prepared a lunch consisting of porridge and mutete, which the children consumed. 

Death toll increases of people who died from suspected food poisoning in Kayova Village

The death toll of people who died from suspected food poisoning at Kayova Village in the Kavango East Region has increased to 13.

The Health Director for Kavango East, Waita Kapumburo, confirmed to nbc News that the number of people who are suspected to have eaten poisoned food was actually 20 and not 18, as earlier indicated.

Kapumburo also confirmed that of the 20 people, 13 have so far died, while four are in critical condition.

They are all from the same household and aged between two and 33.
