Medical misdiagnosis destroys a child's career dream

A 23-year-old Ziggy Shivute's dreams of joining the Namibian Defence Force were shattered after being shortlisted for training recruits, only to be sent home with an alleged medical misdiagnosis.

Ziggy Shivute, the oldest of four siblings, eagerly anticipated the opportunity to serve in the NDF. However, his excitement was short-lived when NDF medical doctors claimed he had a fungal skin infection and deemed him unfit for training. 

Learners urged to use life skills teachers for career advice

Learners have been urged to make use of the life skills teachers to get acquainted with what the job market demands early enough to make the right choices.

The call was made by various speakers at Eros Girls School, where they addressed learners on the importance of career guidance, pre-vocational education, technical and vocational education training, as well as early childhood development.

Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the |Khomas Governor, councillor for the Khomasdal Constituency Samuel Angolo highlighted the importance of career guidance.

Lack of career guidance in many secondary schools in Namibia a concern

The Ministry of Basic Education, Arts, and Culture has expressed concern over the lack of career guidance in many secondary schools throughout the country.

This concern was brought to light by Education Minister Anna Nghipondoka during a regional consultation meeting held in Otjiwarongo with school principals from the Otjozondjupa Region.

The meeting was attended by nearly 50 school principals and heads of departments.
