Vice-President Lucia Witbooi officially opened the 12th Oshakati Totem Expo with a call upon all towns in Namibia, especially those without expos and trade fairs in their towns – to come up with initiatives to boost the local economy.

Minister of Urban and Rural Development James Sankwasa praised the ongoing Oshakati Totem Expo for fostering trade, business partnerships, and cultural exchange.

The recent gala dinner raised N$843,000 towards the nine-day event scheduled for May.

The Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security, Lucia Iipumbu, is calling on all local authorities to organise exhibitions, as they are closely linked to key sectors of the economy. 

Iipumbu expressed pride in the growth of the Oshakati Totem Expo since its inception in 2012.

More than N$400,000 was raised at the Oshakati Totem Expo gala dinner to raise funds for the event's success in December.

The Oshakati Totem Expo began in 2012 but was halted in 2022 due to COVID-19.
