Police Patrol finds 18-year-old with loaded gun

An 18-year-old male was found in possession of a loaded firearm in Dorado Park in Windhoek. 

This and other crimes happened last night as police patrolled through the streets of Katutura.

The teenager told police that he took the gun from his father's safe without permission so he could assist a friend who was involved in a heated argument. 

According to him, he only pointed the gun in the air to threaten a 16-year-old male attacker, who later overpowered him with four others and beat him up with the gun in his hands.

King Philippe visits HISA Community Centre

The King of the Belgians visited the Hope Initiative Southern Africa Community Centre in the heart of Katutura. 

The centre cares for vulnerable people.

King Philippe, who was accompanied by a delegation of, among others, |Khomas Regional Governor Laura McLeod-Katjirua, toured the centre.

Co-founded by Patricia Sola, the centre feeds and offers educational programmes to children and other vulnerable community members.

The plight of the homeless people who were housed by Government at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic at the Katutura and Khomasdal Sports Fields has not changed.

Despite the drop in fatalities during the spread of the disease, the homeless people still live there, enduring harsh daily realities.

The shelters provided by Government and corporates were considered temporary refuges due to the pandemic.
