Family, friends, and former colleagues of the late Alfred Angula gathered at the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations, and Employment Creation to pay their last respects to the former trade unionist.
A church service was also held in his honour at the Hallelujah Lutheran Church in Katutura.
Angula died on 31 December at the age of 59.
The late Alfred Angula was described by mourners as a dedicated advocate for farm workers' rights, a man who exuded a positive attitude and who was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Others described him as a hero to farm workers, a selfless man, and a trade unionist who showed that he had a backbone.
Angula started his career as a trade unionist in Tsumeb before moving to Windhoek in 1994.
A founding member of the Namibia National Student Organisation (NANSO), Angula led the Namibian Farm Workers Union (NNFU) since its formation in 2000.
He also served a stint as the acting secretary general of the National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW).
He had been living with diabetes.
Angula died at age 59, leaving behind his wife, Charity; eight children; six sisters; and a brother.
His funeral is set for Saturday, the 11th of January, in Tsumeb.
