The German government has presented a letter of intent to Enertag, a global renewable energy company, confirming the suitability of the Hyphen Green Hydrogen Project as a designated strategic foreign undertaking.

The strategic foreign project designation for the US$10 billion project renders it eligible to receive targeted support.

Namibian legal system transformed for the better since independence

Fitch keeps Development Bank of Namibia's ratings stable at 'BB minus'

Fitch Ratings in London has decided to keep the Development Bank of Namibia Limited's long-term issuer default ratings at 'BB minus' with a stable outlook. 

This means the bank is considered to have a slightly higher credit risk but is stable overall.

Investors worldwide use these ratings to choose investments that are less likely to default and provide a good return.

Fitch also gave the bank a National Long-Term Rating of 'AA Plus,' which means it offers high-quality investment-grade products. 

Education results not worth celebrating - TUN

Mahongora Kavihuha of the Teachers Union of Namibia has questioned whether the 2023 ordinary and advanced subsidiary-level results released by the education authorities are worth celebrating.

Kavihuha acknowledges that there is'some' improvement in the national results but adds that the improvement is marginal, hardly warranting the current congratulatory celebrations.

Minister of Education, Arts, and Culture, Anna Nghipondoka, revealed last week that 75 percent of learners did not meet the needed marks to continue their studies at universities.

City Police confiscates contraband

The Windhoek City Police confiscated a large number of whiskies and packets of cigarettes in Windhoek on Friday morning.

Though the exact value of the items is yet to be established, it is estimated to be in the region of N$100,000.

It was an action by the owner of a bulk transportation and logistics company that led to the confiscation of these products, which crossed the Namibian border illegally.

Namibia satisfied with progress made in fight against HIV and AIDS

Namibia has made significant progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS, coming very close to meeting the 95-95-95 testing, treatment, and viral suppression targets of UNAIDS.

In Namibia, 95% of all adults 15 to 49 years old are aware of their HIV status, of whom 97% are accessing treatment, and 94% of these have suppressed their viral loads.

Namibia, Botswana agree to reduce roaming charges

Namibia and Botswana have agreed to reduce roaming charges between the two nations by February of next year.

During a joint media briefing, Botswana's Minister of Communication, Knowledge, and Technology, Thulagano Segokgo, announced that regulatory bodies in both countries will direct operators to enact this decision.

This reciprocal visit follows Namibian Minister of Information and Communication Technology Dr. Peya Mushelenga's visit to Botswana earlier this year, which emphasised the commitment to strengthen existing bilateral ties.

nbc praised for taking rural events nationally

Similo made the remark during a courtesy visit by the organisers of the recently held Nongozi Cultural Expo, which was held in Judea Lyaboloma Constituency in the Zambezi Region.
