Life skills teacher Pedro Kapirika says society has been so focused on uplifting the girl child that the boy child is left feeling neglected.

The teacher from Jacob Marengo visited Rundu in an effort to uplift some boys.

There was a time when the focus was solely on men.

This led to women and girl empowerment initiatives all over, but the end result is that the boychild is now feeling left out, says Kapirika.

The Khwe community living in Bwabwata National Park is frustrated with the government for taking so long to recognise its traditional leadership.

The community has been trying for the past 26 years to have its leadership recognised.

 
It's an issue that has been dragging on for more than two decades.

The Khwe say the lack of traditional representation means they have lost their dignity on top of having already lost their ancestral land.

The Shamundambo Village in the Kavango East Region, which has been without electricity for the past 33 years, has finally been electrified.

Ever since independence, Shambundambo residents have had to travel to Divundu to take care of all their electricity-related business, something that, they say, has been an inconvenience.

The installation of a transformer and wires stretches 685 metres into the village.

The electrification project was funded by surcharges, which are funds that the regional council gets from NORED. 

The Khwe community residing at Chetto, a village in Bwabwata National Park, says they feel out of touch with the rest of Namibia and the world.

The villagers have never had access to a radio frequency.

The Khwe are one of the indigenous San groups who live on the stretch of land between the Kavango and Kwando rivers in Bwabwata National Park.

About 6,700 Khwe reside in the many villages found in the park.

Those who live in Cheto say access to information is a foreign concept to them.

Unemployed teachers from the two Kavango regions are accusing the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture of poor leadership and a lack of forward planning.

The unemployed teachers say the ministry is hampering the provision of quality education in the country.

Dressed in their graduation gowns, the group of unemployed teachers decided to voice their dissatisfaction with how the ministry of education is dealing with their plight.

Kavango East's Chief Dentist, Dr. Elizabeth Hausiku-Elago, says the region is benefiting from the various developments made in the dentistry field.

Dr. Hausiku-Elago was speaking during Oral Health Awareness week at Rundu.

The campaign aims to raise awareness about issues surrounding oral health and oral hygiene so various stakeholders can work together to achieve healthier mouths and happier lives.

Dr. Hausiku-Elago says residents of Kavango East have reaped the benefits of some of the dentistry-related developments.

The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology launched its National Symbols Campaign at Rundu.

The campaign aims to create awareness about the protocols and significance of the country's national symbols, which are often not respected by some.

The launch of the national symbols campaign started off with a march from the Governor's Office.

During the campaign, the Police Force gave a demonstration on how to properly hoist and handle the Namibian and AU flags.
