A 38-year-old Motswana woman was raped and killed in Mukwe Constituency, Kavango East Region, last Saturday.
Mukwe residents turned out in large numbers on Tuesday morning to protest the brutal killing of Keolebogile Paulino.
Mukwe Constituency Councillor Damian Maghambayi told local residents that horrific incidents like what happened to Paulino are rare in Mukwe.
Maghambayi said the local people are generally peaceful and welcoming, adding that the act has shocked the community because it goes against everything they stand for.
He is calling on locals who have any information about the incident to be honest and speak out.
The councillor emphasised that criminals should not be protected but reported, adding that keeping quiet only worsens the situation in the long run.
“This is a disgrace to our community and to our culture. We must stand together and say enough is enough,” Maghambayi said.
