People with disabilities call on ECN to be more inclusive

The Chairperson of People with Disabilities in the Ohangwena Region, Asser Shikongo, has called on the Electoral Commission of Namibia (EC) to, in the build-up to the national elections, be mindful of their responsibilities to citizens with disabilities. 

Representing the Regional Development Coordinating Committee, Shikongo took up the plight of the people with disabilities, saying their democratic rights are not respected, given the unavailability of information related to general voter registration in formats more easily accessible to the community.

Government committed to ensure citizens have access to basic needs- Theofelus

Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, re-affirmed the government's commitment to ensuring that all citizens reap the benefits of independence. 

She stated that providing access to basic and essential needs is crucial for the development and well-being of every Namibian.

Addressing the residents of Oshikunde Constituency during the belated 34th Independence celebration held at Oshifitu Village in Ohangwena Region, Theofelus says since Independence, so many dreams have been realised as a result of economic emancipation.

Eenhana Town Council introduces interest relief program

In a positive start to the year 2024, Eenhana residents have reason to celebrate as the town council introduces an interest relief program set to waive full interest on municipal accounts.

Scheduled to run for a year starting January 2nd, the program aims to assist residents, business owners, non-profit organisations, public institutions, and churches in settling their accounts without incurring interest charges.
