Ombudsman's office inundated with learners complaints

The Keetmanshoop regional office of the Ombudsman has been inundated with complaints from learners relating to their suspension and banning from classrooms, corporal punishment, and forceful cutting of hair.   

This was revealed by the regional office head, Sylvester Sibungo when he addressed educators at the annual principals meeting at Keetmanshoop.

Learners performance at NSSCO and NSSCAS levels a concern- NANSO

The Namibia National Students Organisation (NANSO) has raised concerns about the performance of learners at the NSSCO and NSSCAS levels.

NANSO President Lucia Ndishishi stated that the results highlight unresolved challenges in basic education.

Ndishishi, during a press briefing, further suggested that the over 30,000 learners who did not advance to the AS level should be retained in the formal education system at full-time centres and be allowed to rewrite their examinations.

Learners, teachers from Oshikoto Region visit State House

President Hage Geingob has encouraged school learners to take their studies seriously, true to the saying that 'education is the greatest equaliser'.

Learners and teachers from the Oshikoto Region visited State House as part of their school tour to Windhoek.

The pupils are from Tsumeb English Medium, Ontana Combined School, and Nehale Secondary School, from grades seven to twelve.

The visit to State House saw them engage the President and senior officials from the Presidency.
