The ||Kharas Police Commander, Marius Katamila, has rejected rumours of ritual killings at Noordoewer.

Namibia clarified that it has not granted approval for Phase II of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project, citing concerns about potential impacts on downstream flows in the Orange River.

This was in response to a report that the country was unhappy with the project.

The state-owned Orange River Irrigation Project, located along the banks of the Orange River in Aussenkehr’s Grape Valley farms, reported that its vegetable yield for the current season looks promising.

Minister of Works and Transport Veikko Nekundi has issued an urgent warning about rapidly rising water levels along the Orange River, cautioning that a key road near the floodplain may be closed imminently due to safety concerns.

Some workers of the government's green scheme, the Orange River Irrigation Project (ORIP) at Aussenkehr, have voiced frustrations over being excluded from the government pension, GIPF.

Some workers are members of the GIPF, while others are not, leading the workers to claim discrimination against them.

The Orange River Irrigation Project (ORIP) at Aussenkehr is expected to harvest 200 metric tonnes of dates this season. 

ORIP farm manager Paulus Mungoba spoke to nbc News about the development. 

Aussenkehr, a settlement located on the banks of the Orange River, is known for its agricultural activities, particularly the cultivation of table grapes, which are exported to Europe.

The settlement has a primary school, a government clinic, a police station, and a shopping centre.

The long-standing dispute over the Orange River boundary between Namibia and South Africa will feature during deliberations at the 3rd session of the Namibia-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC), underway in Windhoek.

The Orange River forms the international border between South Africa and Namibia.
