Katima Mulilo remembers late Dr Geingob

Residents of Katima Mulilo gathered in large numbers in front of Ngwe Shopping Mall last night for the vigil of the late President Hage Geingob.

The speakers at the event spoke highly of the late leader, emphasising that he was a unifier and a person who believed in democracy, unity, peace, and economic development for all.

Zambezi Governor Alufea Sampofu stressed that the late President Geingob was one of those leaders who knew how to consult through his town hall meetings, where he listened and interacted with the communities.

President Hage Geingob is described by many as the people's president.

He was a very sociable person and did not shy away from visiting popular hangout spots to meet and speak to the youth like he did on many occasions.

The nbc News team caught up with the owner of Bix Car Wash, Bix Kambala, a popular hangout spot in Katutura.

Bix Car Wash is one of the recent spots Dr. Geingob visited to watch a football match of Ohangwena-based Premier League team Chula Chula. 

He describes the president's surprise visit as a surreal moment. 

Minister Pohamba Shifeta remembers Geingob as a generous giant

The Minister of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism has described the late President Hage Geingob as a person you could learn from every day, especially on administration matters.

Shifeta says he vividly recalls when he met the late President Geingob in 1989 at a social function in Windhoek. 

He says that although at first, he saw the late as a strict, serious, and unapproachable man, his initial thoughts were actually proven wrong when he got to know him and became a personal friend.

Geingob had great plans for the country - Dr Carlos Lopes

Former UN Economic Commission for Africa Executive Director, Dr. Carlos Lopes, who had a close relationship with the late President Hage Geingob, was in Namibia today to personally express his condolences to the widow Monica Geingos and her family.

Dr. Lopes, who took time out to speak to the nbc, advised Namibians to continue advocating for constitutional democracy and good governance to keep President Hage Geingob's legacy alive. 

Late Dr. Geingob credited for efforts to restore investor confidence

The Forum for German-speaking Namibians says the late President Hage Geingob must be credited for his efforts to restore investor confidence.

The Forum, in a message of condolences, says President Geingob was personally responsible for international multinational companies in the green hydrogen and oil and gas sectors in Namibia.

It also says the late President preferred to be President for all and requested all Namibians to take up their rightful places in the Namibian House.
