Members of the National Assembly hosted a pre-Independence Day yesterday in celebration of 36 years of peace, stability, unity and freedom.

The MPs stood in solidarity, demonstrating that despite their political affiliations, they serve with a similar purpose: to bring prosperity to all citizens.

The President of the Republican Party (RP), Henk Mudge, has publicly criticized the government and the United Nations over their handling of the "Pact of the Future," adopted at the UN's 75th General Assembly.

Members of the Namibian Defence Force were reminded not to involve themselves in politics, apart from exercising their civic duty to vote.

This reminder came from the Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, Frans Kapofi, during the annual staff meeting at the defence headquarters in Windhoek.
