The National Housing Enterprise (NHE)'s housing project at Chotto Extension 55 and 56 in Katima Mulilo is progressing steadily, with land servicing at about 50 percent complete.
 

The Gibeon Village Council says it is making deliberate efforts to accelerate the much-needed development at the village.

The council has acquired land for various development projects, including town electrification and the construction of a sports facility.

To address the national housing backlog, the government has allocated N$75 million to the Walvis Bay Municipality for land servicing and the construction of 200 low-cost housing units at Farm 37, as part of the first phase of a broader housing initiative.

The Ministry of Urban and Rural Development will allocate N$75 million for land servicing and construction of houses at Farm 37, near Walvis Bay.

Farm 37, also known as Green Valley, is located about seven kilometres east of the harbour town.

The Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Sankwasa James Sankwasa, says the provision of basic services and the servicing of land remain top priorities for the ministry.

Kunene Governor Marius Sheya has revived the Build Together Housing programme in Outjo to help address the backlog of over 4,000 residents on the waiting list.

Currently, the most affected and needy homeowners are located in the town's ever-expanding informal settlements.

Basic income grants, safety homes, climate change, and land servicing were among the inputs given by civil society during a consultation with the Minister of Finance and Public Enterprise, Iipumbu Shiimi. 

The consultations are regarding priorities for the 2024–2025 mid-year budget review. 

Members of the Nalitungwe Community Savings Foundation have become new landowners at Farm 37 on the outskirts of Walvis Bay.

The municipality has allocated them portion 12, which will need to be serviced.
