Late Maxuilili envisioned a united Namibia

The panellists at the Nathaniel Maxuilili Public Lecture discussed how the late liberation struggle hero, Nathaniel Maxuilili, would have been shocked to hear about people getting burned in shack fires if he were still alive.

Panellist Ruusa Shipiki mentioned that Maxuilili would have been disappointed with the ghettos and the migration of working-class people to Walvis Bay, leading to poverty and unemployment.

She emphasised the need to address these issues and find productive ways to embrace the 71.1 percent of Namibia's population that is under 35.

Namibians gathered at Walvis Bay to celebrate the life of fearless liberation struggle hero Nathaniel Maxuilili, who died 25 years ago.

Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah described the late Maxuilili as a dedicated freedom fighter who fought relentlessly for Namibia's independence.

The legendary Nathaniel Maxuilili's heroic deeds were remembered in the harbour town, where he spent most of his political journey.

Those who knew him say he fought for Namibia's freedom, even if it meant making the ultimate sacrifice.
