Regional leaders urged to register names of flood victims in Ohangwena

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called on regional councillors and traditional leaders to urgently register flood victims whose mahangu fields are submerged in water.

The call follows the president's visit to flood relocation centres in the Ohangwena region.

Households affected by floods in Ohangwena rise

The number of flood-affected households in the Ohangwena Region continues to increase. 

As of Tuesday, 183 households are submerged, displacing 977 people who are now accommodated at six flood relocation centres.

GOVT makes strides in assisting flood victims

The government continues to make strides in assisting those severely affected by the recent floods.

The Oshana and Kunene Regions have also made strides in airlifting food and medical personnel to assist those who have been cut off by the floodwaters.

October 12 marks a century since the ancestors of the Ovitoto community emerged from concentration camps, seeking refuge and rebuilding their lives in the Ovitoto communal area.

The milestone was celebrated over the weekend at Okandjira Village in the Omatako Constituency.
