The number of flood-affected households in the Ohangwena Region continues to increase.
As of Tuesday, 183 households are submerged, displacing 977 people who are now accommodated at six flood relocation centres.
Among those relocated are 139 children under the age of five and 35 lactating mothers.
Visiting the relocation centres, the governor of Ohangwena Region called on the flood-affected individuals to live in harmony and tolerate each other under the circumstances.
Sebastian Ndeitunga said the flood situation is temporary, encouraging them that they will go back home soon.
"We are coming from different households; here we should live in peace and harmony as brothers and sisters under one roof. We should live here in peace, working together. We are all facing the same problem."
Ndeitunga also cautioned community members not to use flood water for consumption, as it may carry water-borne diseases.
About five constituencies in the Ohangwena Region are affected by floods.
