The Tsumkwe constituency office, through the Otjozondjupa Regional Council, has stepped in to strengthen the education sector.

The office donated a photocopy machine and other school essentials to Makata Primary School.

Grasshoek, a remote village nearly 160 km outside of Tsumkwe and home to about 300 households, boasts a community full of determination but also with many challenges.

Community members who spoke to NBC News bemoaned the high unemployment rate and lack of infrastructure.

Nǂama Village School, one of the six community-based village schools in the Nyae Nyae Conservancy in Tsumkwe, was handed over.

Cwi |Aice, the school board chairperson, expressed his satisfaction with the opening of the school. 

Residents of Tsumkwe in the Otjozondjupa Region say poor road infrastructure, an unstable electricity supply and weak network coverage continue to hinder development in the area.

They spoke to NBC News about their daily struggles and hopes for improvement.

Residents of Grashoek in the Tsumkwe Constituency of the Otjozondjupa Region are in need of electricity as well as land for livestock farming.

The residents told nbc News that the lack of electricity denies them education opportunities and impedes social progression.
