The Zambezi Education Directorate has officially launched September as Lifelong Learning Month as part of its efforts to promote lifelong learning and raise public awareness on the importance of community participation in learning opportunities.

Awareness campaigns and community sensitisation on the Indoor residual spraying (IRS) programme have kicked off in the Zambezi region with a team from the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) travelling to constituencies to engage communities.

The government has assured grain farmers in the Zambezi Region that their concerns over the lack of a market will be addressed.

Farmers said they harvested large quantities of grain but are struggling to secure buyers.

Traffic fines amounting to over N$200,000 have been collected during Operation ZAKAWE in the Kavango East, Kavango West, and Zambezi regions between 03 and 12 August.

Numerous establishments have been found in violation of the Labour Act during the oversight visit by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Poverty Eradication, Labour and Industrial Relations, particularly focused on the retail and wholesale sector in the Zambezi region.

The Mafwe Traditional Authority accorded land to the National Commission on Research Science and Technology (NCRST) for the establishment of a National Science, Technology and Innovation Park in the Liselo area, Zambezi region.

Mayeyi Shikati Boniface Shufu has called on the government to consider establishing a village council at Sangwali to bring services closer to the community.

Sangwali is situated 130 kilometers southwest of Katima Mulilo, and it serves as the administrative center of the Judea-Lyaboloma Constituency.

Shikati of the Mayeyi Traditional Authority, Boniface Shufu, has called on his community to strengthen cultural roots for the next generation.

The Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, emphasised the importance of embracing cultural roots and creating employment while at it.

Minister Sankwasa was speaking during a gala dinner aimed at raising funds for the 9th Zambezi Bream Festival & Cultural Expo.

Representatives from Adventist World Radio (AWR) Namibia and the Namibia North Conference (NNC) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church paid courtesy visits to the Office of the Zambezi Regional Governor and the Katima Mulilo Town Council to introduce the community radio services to the Local leadership.
