Mourners gathered at Gobabis to bid farewell to war veteran and community leader Olivia Penehafo Ueitele.

She died on 14 June, aged 97.

The Miss Namibia Top 10 finalists had the opportunity to step into an important chapter of Namibia's liberation history during their visit to Charles Hill in Botswana, where they learned how Ludwig Kandetu Stanley drove founding president Dr Sam Nujoma to Botswana under the instructions of Chief Hosea Kutako.

Former Chief of Defence Lieutenant General (Rtd) Solomon "Jesus" Hawala was buried at the Old Ongwediva Lutheran cemetery in the Oshana Region.

The tombstone unveiling for freedom fighter, Kephes Harry "King Jury" Conradie, was held on Saturday morning at Katutura Cemetery in Dolam, marking the 11th anniversary of his death.

Conradie, born in 1937 in Windhoek's Old Location, was a notable figure in Namibia's liberation struggle. 

The unifying role of the Kiswahili language in the liberation struggle of Southern African countries, with particular focus on Namibia, was highlighted during a symposium in Windhoek on Friday.

The meeting was organised by the Triumphant College.

Onesmus Shikongo Akwenye, a veteran of Namibia's liberation struggle, former educator, sportsman, and public servant, died aged 86 on Friday in a Windhoek hospital.
