Members of Parliament raised concerns regarding the maintenance of state properties and the failure to maintain infrastructure properly.

They raised these issues during the debate on the Ministry of Works and Transport’s budget allocation.

Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, said the absence of a stormwater drainage system is an emergency that poses a danger to Rundu residents.

Sankwasa emphasised that immediate action is needed, as there are only three months left before the rainy season begins.

Residents of Rundu have rejected NORED's tariff increase proposal of 3% for the 2025/2026 financial year.

The residents say the proposed percentages are high considering the challenges of unemployment.
