A former volunteer at the Kufamosha Information Disability Centre in the Omuthiya Constituency is among trainees undergoing a three-month basic orientation training at the National Youth Service Centre in Rietfontein, Otjozondjupa Region. 

The Okawambi residents in the Omuthiya constituency of Oshikoto Region have taken the initiative of digging a pond to harvest rainwater amid water scarcity.

For the past two weeks, Okawambi residents have been working together to dig the pond.

A total of 6,263 gender-based violence (GBV)-related cases were reported nationally during the 2023/2024 financial year.

Oshikoto Governor Sacky Kathindi on Wednesday visited the bereaved family of four people who died in a vehicle accident last Friday between Oshigambo and Onethindi.

The victims were travelling from Nkurenkuru, Kavango West Region, to their village.

Omuthiya Councillor Erastus Nekomba has commended the residents in the Oshikoto Region for successfully digging out a community well.

The efforts follow a period of three weeks without access to clean tap water.

Oshikoto Communal Land Board member Fabian Venasiu has warned village headmen to refrain from illegally selling or allocating land parcels.

This follows the removal of illegal fencing at Ohaiyanda village, outside the Omutsegwonime area in the Oshikoto Region, on Friday.

The Bank Windhoek Omuthiya branch on Thursday donated groceries, toiletries, and other essential items to the Kufamosha Information Disability Centre at Omalindi in the Oshikoto Region.

Branch Head Natanael Natanael said the donation forms part of the bank's corporate social responsibility initiatives. 

The Omuthiya Councillor, Erastus Nekomba, said the lack of national documents among some residents, including pensioners, remains one of the challenges facing the constituency.

Nekomba made the remarks while reflecting on his first eight months in office.

The Onameya community library in the Oshikoto Region is on the verge of collapse due to a lack of funds.

Established in 2023, the library has become a pillar of support for villagers and learners seeking to read and write.
