The |Khomas Police Head of Investigations, Fredrick Ndjadila, has urged couples experiencing relationship problems to seek psychological support before their differences escalate into violence.

Deputy Commissioner Ndjadila call followed a recent incident in which a woman was shot in the head by her husband while they were in a parked vehicle outside the Katutura Health Care Center.

The suspect fled the scene but handed himself over to the police a day later.

Deputy Commissioner Ndjadila says cases of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) are on the rise.

The couple had allegedly taken their daughter to the clinic for medical care when a misunderstanding occurred.

The 46-year-old husband allegedly shot his 43-year-old wife once in the head.

Ndjadila is encouraging couples experiencing difficulties in their relationships to seek professional help rather than resorting to violence.

The Ministry of Gender and Nampol has a dedicated office within the Namibian police dealing with gender-related issues.

A case of attempted murder has been opened against the suspect, who made his first appearance at the Katutura Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Couples are also advised to seek assistance from the GBV Unit at Katutura Intermediate Hospital.
