A procession carrying the remains of liberation stalwarts who were reburied at the Heroes' Acre today passed through parts of Windhoek ahead of the official reburial ceremony.

After more than five decades, Namibia has laid to rest two liberation heroes who died in captivity on Robben Island, while honouring six others whose remains and legacies have now been brought together at Heroes' Acre.

The reburial of eight liberation struggle veterans is an act of restorative justice and a powerful reminder of the shared history between Namibia and South Africa.

The family of the veteran Fillemon Nangolo has paid tribute to him ahead of the reburial at the Heroe's Acre tomorrow.

The late "Nduuvu'' Nangolo was born in 1952 at Oshaandjela Village near Ondangwa in the Oshana Region.

A reburial ceremony, to honour the sacrifices of the country's liberation struggle icons, will be held at the Heroes Acre tomorrow, ahead of the Heroes Day commemoration on Wednesday.
