Luderitz TC donates land to COSDEC

The donation of land measuring 6,000 square metres has given a boost to plans to construct a Community Skills Development Centre in Luderitz. 

Luderitz Town Council officially handed over the donated land to COSDEC Benguela.

COSDEC Benguela opened its doors in Luderitz in 2009, offering computer literacy and needle courses. 

The training centre, with a student intake of more than 200 per year, currently offers six TVET courses, among others in plumbing, welding, and hospitality. 

COSDEC trainees at Rundu unhappy with treatment received from sponsors

Trainees from the marginalised communities sponsored by Palms for Life at the Tukurenu Community Skills Development Centre at Rundu are not happy with the treatment they receive from the sponsors.

The trainees, the majority of them from the Khwe community residing in the Bwabwata National Park, received training on vocational skills at various levels.

Palms for Life is a non-governmental organisation that solicits funds from donors for the empowerment of marginalised groups in Namibia.

Youth get training in poultry farming in Rundu

The Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare in the Kavango East Region have added poultry farming to its community income-generating activities' support.

At least 23 beneficiaries, the majority of them youth, underwent poultry farming skills training at Rundu to introduce them to chicken farming.

The regional head of the ministry, Benedikta Kamunoko, says income-generating projects are aimed at empowering rural communities to be food secure and self-reliant.

COSDEC trainees at Rundu demand refund of their residue funds

Hundreds of trainees from the Tukurenu Community Skills Development Centre at Rundu staged a demonstration demanding payment of their residue funds.

Leading the demonstration was the Namibia National Students Organisation (NANSO), whose members charged the Community Skills Development Federation with being insensitive to their plight.
