The Ministry of Health and Social Services has announced the temporary closure of the Mondesa Clinic in Swakopmund following a fire incident that broke out in the early hours of Monday.

In the past two weeks, police in the Erongo Region have conducted a significant operation in Walvis Bay and Swakopmund, resulting in the seizure of illegal drugs, stolen goods, and electronic devices valued at over N$1 million.

The recent attacks on elderly residents in the coastal towns of Henties Bay and Swakopmund have raised significant concerns about the safety of senior citizens in the Erongo Region.

Erongo Governor Neville Andre and Swakopmund Mayor Blasius Goraseb have expressed satisfaction with the positive impact of visitors in the region.

They say the influx of tourists significantly boosted the local tourism sector and the overall economy. 

Swakopmund's Mayor, Blasius Goraseb, unveiled the town's theme for 2025, which centres around empowerment. 

The theme, Goraseb, says reflects the town's commitment to strengthening its community and economy through initiatives that focus on education, skills development, and inclusivity.

The death of Jogobeth Gawa!nas, who was murdered at Swakopmund on Saturday, has left the family broken.

Gawa!nas body was discovered in a pool of blood at home on Saturday morning in Swakopmund.
