Zambezi Region prepares for election general registration

Preparations for the 2024 general registration of voters, to be held from June 3 to August 1, are in full swing in the Zambezi Region. 

The Supervisor for Registration of Voters in Sibbinda Constituency and Acting Chairperson of the Supervisors of Voters, Ben Luponjani, made this assurance during a stakeholder engagement meeting.

The meeting brought together various stakeholders, including representatives of political parties. 

According to Luponjani, teams have already been deployed in the region for voter education purposes. 

Learners who failed to get placement in the Rundu Circuit to commence classes tomorrow

Preparations are underway at the Rundu Trade Fair Centre for the scheduled return to school tomorrow, of learners who failed to get timely placement in the Rundu Circuit.

More than 7 00 learners in Grades 8, 9 and 10 are set to commence classes on Monday.

The learners in the Rundu Circuit who failed to secure school placement have been at home for almost four weeks now.

Last week, authorities vowed that they would be able to join their peers in class, by tomorrow. 

Classes were delayed due to the lack of tents and other teaching and learning materials.

ECN prepares for upcoming general elections

The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN), has already started preparing for the upcoming general elections.

Namibians will go to the polls in 2024 to elect a President and members of the National Assembly. 

The ECN on Thursday began engaging with stakeholders on the draft Electoral Amendment Bill, sending a request for stakeholders to dissect the proposed amendments and submit their inputs.
