Education evolve in the Kavango Region since before independence

Education is often referred to as the key to a successful future, and it is compulsory for a Namibian child.

Before independence, it was an achievement in the Kavango Region for one to produce good results. Schools in the Kavango Region were constructed based on traditional jurisdictions.

Each of the schools had a hostel to accommodate the learners, while the curriculum had four terms, and some learners would only return home after the fourth term.

On the western side of Kavango, there was Katjimi Murangi School, which was established in 1976.

UNAM to develop an artificial intelligence curriculum for Africa

The University of Namibia (UNAM) is developing an artificial intelligence curriculum for Africa.

Pro-Vice Chancellor at the institution, Professor Anicia Peters, says UNAM will collaborate with Africa-based Google and Microsoft.

"This curriculum came about because we said if Africans and women want to be part of the creators of AI and we want to diminish the gender biases, the racial biases, and the stereotypes against Africans, then we have to get on that wagon and we have to start educating our learners and students just like you."

UNAM to implement revised curriculum in 2023

The University of Namibia (UNAM), in its quest to enhance graduates' employability, will implement its revised curriculum next year.

UNAM's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kenneth Matengu, says this new curriculum requires collaboration with industry to provide students with the requisite experience and exposure to the real world of work.

Professor Matengu said this at the engagement event with partners in various industries.

Mavuluma Secondary School learners in Katima Mulilo hold fashion show as part of their curriculum

Learners at the Mavuluma Secondary School in Katima Mulilo held a fashion show displaying items they had made as part of the curriculum.
 
The school introduced a technical science field, made up of home economics, fashion, and textile subjects.

The theme of the second fashion show was "Showcasing our skills through technical subjects."

The Technical Sciences Head of Department, Peter Imasiku, said although the subject is one, it is not merely for fun, but the items will be sent to Windhoek for national assessment.
