President Geingob dismayed with learners being taught under trees

President Hage Geingob says he is dismayed with reports of some learners being taught under trees while waiting on the government to construct additional classrooms.

Since the start of the 2023 academic year, images of children taught under trees at some schools and at times amid pouring rain have exposed the urgent need for additional school infrastructure.

President Geingob says this is a concern for all but questions why the schools' management does not consider more conducive strategies for teaching.

MTC plans to construct classrooms at a cost of N$3,2 million

The Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) through its Rural School Project, has announced plans to construct classrooms in Zambezi, Ohangwena and Hardap regions this year at a cost of N$3,2 million.

The schools to benefit include Kahunikwa Primary, Onduludiya Combined School and the Groendraai Primary Schools.

MTC's Chief Human Capital, Corporate Affairs, and Marketing Officer, Tim Ekandjo expressed dismay over challenges, such as the lack of dilapidated classrooms faced by many schools in the country.

Do Mar Fishing to construct a logistics hub at Walvis Bay

A local company, Do Mar Fishing, is expected to construct a logistics hub at Walvis Bay at a cost of N$25 million.

Established in 2017 by Tsumeb resident Antonio Rodriques, Dor Mar Fishing held a ground-breaking ceremony to announce plans for the construction.

The logistics hub will be located in the New Industrial Extension 14 area near Narraville.

Fisheries and Marine Resources Minister Derek Klazen and Erongo Governor Neville André welcomed the project.

The Okahao Town Council is faced with a high demand for land in all income categories.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Junias Jakob, in an interview with nbc News, said the town has ample land for both residential and industrial use, but it needs to be served.

As part of its remedial mechanisms, the Council has given 70 erven to the National Housing Enterprise to construct low-cost affordable houses.
